Moorhens is just a Lakeside stroll from Good Food, Historic Inns, cosy Teashop, and vibrant independent quintessential black and white building high street. It is an elegant two bed-roomed, single storey new property, with convenient wet-room, log burner and gas central heating. There is not only an ample sitting room, but also an open plan kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, dining conservatory, and secure garden with terrace. The single bedroom can be transformed into a double or two singles if necessary.
Situated on the opposite side of the lake, and just 75 yds from it, Moorhen’s peaceful positioning makes for an extremely pleasurable walk into town. The lake is in the grounds of the former medieval Newent Court and was formed from the remnant of the Monk’s fishponds. The level lakeside walk is lit in the evening and has been approved for disabled and wheelchair users. Pushchair friendly too.
Memorable local encounters await: get beak to beak at the International Birds of Prey Centre with an Owl, Peregrine or Eagle flying and landing on your outstretched glove, tour one of England's leading vineyards tasting as you go, checking the winery out followed by a sumptuous lunch, abundant restaurants, golf courses, 27,000 acres of Forest of Dean with all its adrenalin adventure activities, rolling Cotswolds and so, so much more.
Pets welcome too.

Just a quick but big THANK YOU for helping us all spend a lovely few days at Moorhens. Your property is so well equiped – every time I looked for something it was always close at hand. Despite our short visit we raided the local produce shops at Three Shires Garden Centre and the Severn & Wye Fishery (twice!) together with the local butcher in Newent. We visited Ross on Wye, Symnonds Vat and Ledbury so had a good sample. Fabulous, Thanks again

This is the second holiday that we have had at Moorhens - we were so pleased with the service and accomodation. We arrived early and Geoff let us in straight away. The welcome hamper was lovely and the accomodation was beautifully clean and had everything we wanted/needed. We love this part of the country and the location is perfect for walking and relaxing. We will be booking again for next year without a doubt. Thank you to Lynda and Geoff for your excellent service and hospitalilty.
